MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

The month of September is always busy with the start of the academic year and the many activities children participate in beyond the school day.  For parents/guardians as well, the month is the start of the year for school-related events. There are two September evening dates for parents. The first PTO meeting takes place tomorrow night and our Back to School Night is next Thursday evening, September 26th.

The PTO meeting is a wonderful opportunity to meet other Hastings parents, learn about what is happening at the school and share what may be on your mind.  Tomorrow I will speak about the start of the year and give an update on the building project. Assistant Principal Katie O’Hare Gibson will attend the meeting as well.  Child care will be available.

The following Thursday, September 26th, teachers welcome parents/guardians for an evening of sharing about the year ahead in our classrooms. This is an adults only event, with the following schedule:

6:15-7:00pm -- Grades 3, 4, and 5 class or grade level meetings

6:45-7:05pm -- Parents/guardians of children with identified special needs invited to the Library

7:10-7:25pm -- All adults invited to the gym: specialist, ELL, literacy, and math teachers available. Introduction of staff and brief remarks from the principal.

7:30-8:15pm -- Grades K, 1 and 2 class or grade level meetings.

We look forward to seeing you in the next few weeks.

Louise Lipsitz

New Bulletin Format!

What do you think?  Easier to read? More changes to come!

All meetings are at 7pm in the Selectmen’s Meeting Room (1625 Mass. Ave.) unless otherwise noted. Full schedule is posted on the town website

Don’t have time to volunteer during the school day? Consider being a school committee liaison by attending or watching the School Committee meetings remotely and sharing news relevant to the Hastings community in this section of the weekly bulletin. With 3-4 parents participating the commitment would be one two-hour long meeting approximately every two months - we have one volunteer so far! Contact vp-planning@hastings-pto.org if you are interested!
